This seems to be the definative word - Elmwood is no longer brewing. The equipment has been removed. They remain open as a restaurant. The building is beautiful and the food has always been good but, sadly, no more brewing.

They are actually under new ownership. As part of the transition the new owners wanted to get the food up and running before they started brewing again. When they do start in the fall, it will be with a smaller system, as the old system has moved to a new brewpub in Bloomington.

I just spoke to a manager at Elmwood. They are not brewing at the moment, but hope to start back up in the fall. No reason given. The restaurant is still open.

Reported closed in March. Rumor has it that the owner will be moving the equipment to a new brewpub in Bloomington.

This place is a hidden gem. It is well worth the short drive from Peoria, which does not have a place like this anymore.
The restored building looks great and has a wonderful atmosphere to it. It's very clean and looks new. We were surprised that they have been open almost 3 years.
The beer is very good. They have 7 different choices, plus seasonals, and something for everybody's tastes. I sampled the blueberry, which is the seasonal right now. Unlike the previous review, mine had a very distinct flavor and smell to it. The balance couldn't have been better. It was not overpowering or sickening sweet. I would highly recommend it.
The menu was not very extensive, but again something for just about anybody's tastes. However, the food was excellent!
We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return again. Make the trip to Elmwood, you will not be disappointed!

The brewpub itself is located in a wonderfully restored building on the square in Elmwood. This was my third visit and the beer has improved each time. But, that is not saying alot. My general impression is that the beer is good, but not great. Drinkable but not something I will go out of my way to have, especially when you have other options, like Rhodell's in nearby Peoria.
I had the pale ale which had no real boquet and nothing really noticable in the taste. The Octoberfest was good, but not really true to form. I finished with a blueberry ale that was tapped that day--and could not taste blueberries at all!
The best reason to visit it the food. They have a basic menu, but the food is prepared well. The sunday brunch is very good.
Be careful about the hours--they are only open for a few hours on thursday through sunday (only for brunch on sunday).

I just sampled the bottled Amber Ale. At first taste it seemed overly carbonated. After letting it sit for a little while, it has a nice full flavor

This brewpub is in a small town outside of Peoria. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I had the stout and the pale ale. The stout was very rich and creamy; the pale was light on body but very hoppy. I thought they were both tasty brews. The service was wonderful and the food great. It's not a trendy spot (like the Tap Room or Flatbranch mentioned in the previous review -- I've been to those too), but it was a very pleasant place to have a great beer and food.

Had both the Amber and the Pale Ale. Seemed to be light on flavor and virtually no hoppiness or malt. In other words, watered down. Suggest the previous reviewer Joe visit The Tap Room (Schaefly Beer) in St. Louis or better yet Flatbranch Brewing Company in Columbia Mo to calibrate what an awesome rating should be. This brewery is minor league class A compared to the Missouri brewpubs that would be more like the major leagues.

Only 25 miles from Peoria, this place is well worth the drive. The beer was awesome, but I would like to see a few more selections. The food is excellent and service was quite friendly. The merchandise selection was a bit light, but I was there for the beer. Highly recommended!!!

I suggest you call first for the current hours of operation as of 02/03 they are limited. A shared establishment between a very good restaurant and a newly opened micro brewpub, On the pub side the beers have been in the works since 1999 and I wasn't disapointed with the beers for the least. and for the restaurant which name escapes me at this time, Didn't have an empty seat, the food was very good but I will say the portion sizes were a little scant.
